Now, many workers answer this question with the health benefits of whole wheat versus white and the double sided information has really started to chip in. However, is there a healthy form of pizza for health conscious too?

There are many positive aspects to pizza. Yes, you can find health information about many forms of cooked food. However, in decision making, what is the best form of cooked in your choice of healthy pizza? You may have an option of whole wheat versus white and the nutritional value of each is basically the same. In this day and age, should we really care?

Whole Wheat Healthy Pizza

Those who are looking for the health benefits of pizza should consider whole wheat pizza. This form of pizza allows you to place on whole wheat crust as opposed to dough made from white flour. White flour may be a product of ancient bread making and is made from bleached wheat, however it is bleached and ground into white flour, which is mixed with water and other chemicals for the purpose to make white flour. Whole wheat pizza and crust are therefore an alternative to individual’s who want to avoid foods with these chemicals.

Whole wheat crust is by far the healthier option. It is created from whole wheat and other ingredients. Whole wheat crust can help cholesterol levels. These cholesterol and fat laden pizzas can be prepared with olive oil and other natural seasonings and herbs which can also be included in the ingredients.

The benefits of this pizza will be endless. Hearty natural flavors, bright colored toppings, and a healthy choice of ingredients can allow anyone to have a healthy meal or snack. Best of all, by including natural flavors, you can avoid the assumption that you are making a meal that is heavy on the carbohydrates.

Many companies are now offering whole wheat pizzas to people who do not want to eat the carbohydrates or calories associated with white bread and carbs.  When I was working for a Maryland bathroom remodeling company we would have pizza at least once a week while on the job site and they introduced me to low carb pizza. Microwaveable whole wheat pizzas are available and will soon be on store shelves.

As was mentioned with other recent food items, this can be a great lunch or dinner for those who are on a smaller budget. This can be prepared several different ways so it will stay with you longer and help you eat Less.

Below are some tips for the ingredients and various choices to use when making Pizza

Blue Cheese

bleu cheese – this option is buffalo or cheddar cheese.

 Best Pizza Sauce

1 stick of butter

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1 tablespoon of tomato sauce, do not add tomato flavoring

aba or spinach pesto

1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese

4 slices of mozzarella cheese

2 tablespoons of tomato sauce

1/2 cup of chopped basil leaves

pizza dough (optional)

Blue Cheese

1 can tuna (drained)

1/4 cup of chopped dill weed

1/4 cup of chopped parsley

1/4 cup of tomato paste

1/4 cup of chopped onions


1/2 cup of dried lentils

1/4 cup of granulated sugar

4 cups of diced semisweet chocolate

2 tablespoons of butter, chocolate melted


In a saucepan heat olive oil, add onion, garlic and celery. Cook for about 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 2 hours. Let cool. Store in an airtight container.
