For years my father would make Sunday Dinner for everyone.

It was a hit and miss as my two sisters and I would either be the guest or the target of much teasing.

On special occasions we were always the guests, never the target. But on Forget Me Not days, me and the kids were always there,Tex Mex style, ready to go.

As a kid, I loved the mix of tastes, textures and flavors. As I grew into an adult, it began to be less about the salty or sweet in food and more about the aromatic, the complex and the subtle.

So, with food allergies, scurvy, poor digestion and all the medical ailments that demanded a change in diet, a change in style as well, it made sense to me to search for the best of all.

The best of all is found in Thai cooking. I have been preparing it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is quick, it is easy to prepare and you can eat it with any combination of meats, seafood or vegetables.

In fact, I would say that Thai food is the best possible combination of all-round ingredients that make-up perfect food.

You can find these ingredients in your local Asian store, in the supermarket or in a good Asian deli. If you just don’t have any idea about Asian food, don’t worry. And you need coriander, rapadur, ginger and garlic. The basic mixture is coriander, 1tsp fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, turmeric, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves. And you also need a few curry leaves.
